Freight broker software cost runs from $0 to $5,000 per user a month, and the sticker price is only part of the bill. Here is every price the leading broker TMS vendors publish, checked November 4, 2026, what each one costs at three brokerage sizes, and the fees that sit outside the price. We make UltraShip freight broker software and hold our own pricing to the same questions.
Freight brokerage software cost for small teams can start under $500 a month. A 10-person brokerage booking 400 loads a month pays about $1,000 to $2,100 a month on most published plans, a cost per load of $2.50 to $5.20, before load board subscriptions. Larger plans run from $4,595 (Tai Premium+) to $7,925 a month (Tai Pro), and enterprise systems such as Turvo cost $5,000 per user a month.

Our arithmetic on published prices; FTL loads; excludes load boards and taxes. UltraShip does not publish its price: it is very affordable for an all-in-one TMS, and your exact price is shared after you book a demo. Tai needs Premium for 3 users (Growth includes 2 staff logins), Premium+ for 10 and Pro for 25. Aljex Enterprise user count is not published. Quote Factory, BrokerPro, DAT Broker TMS and EZ TMS publish prices only for their entry tier, so they are left out above it.
What does UltraShip cost, and what is included?
UltraShip charges a fixed price per user with unlimited loads, so the bill grows only when your team does: no per-load fees, no load caps, no setup fee and no contract. The CRM, Gateway carrier vetting, accounting, UltraPay and the AI tools are built into the TMS itself rather than bought from other vendors, so one bill covers what many brokerages pay three or four tools for. UltraShip is paid, and it is very affordable for an all-in-one system. Pricing is shared after you book a demo, once we know your users and loads.
- Free built-in CRM and Ultra Campaigns
- Quotes, loads, tracking and documents for FTL and LTL
- Gateway carrier vetting and digital onboarding
- Accounting synced to QuickBooks, and UltraPay for carrier payments
- Unlimited loads, no contracts, no setup fees, free data migration and training
“UltraShip replaced our spreadsheets and disconnected tools with one workflow that actually makes sense. More control, fewer misses, and faster execution without enterprise-level cost.”
Mike Mitchell, Operations Manager, Midwest Freight Solutions (verified review on Capterra)
How is TMS software priced: per user, per load or flat?
- Per user, per month: AscendTMS, ARK TMS, MVMNT and UltraShip. The bill grows with your team, not your loads.
- Tiers by shipments or loads: Quote Factory ($499 up to 150 shipments, $999 up to 300) and BrokerPro ($950 up to 150 loads, $1,200 up to 225). Simple until you pass a band.
- Base fee plus per load: Sunnybrook ($650 with 200 loads, then $3.00 a load) and Alvys (from $3.95 a load, no base fee).
- Tiers by users: Descartes Aljex ($699 for 5 users, $999 for 15) and Transport Pro ($500 for 5, then $100 a user).
- Custom quote: McLeod, PCS and most enterprise tiers, usually with an implementation project and a contract.
Per-load pricing looks small until volume grows. On a plan with a $650 base that includes 200 loads and charges $3 for each extra load, growing from 200 to 600 loads a month takes the bill from $650 to $1,850, with the same team. On a per-user plan with unlimited loads, the bill stays the same until you hire.
Older on-premise systems were sold as a one-time license plus yearly maintenance. Almost every broker TMS today is cloud software paid monthly, which moves the cost from a large upfront bill to a predictable monthly one.
What drives transport management system price?
- Users: per-user plans grow with your team.
- Loads or shipments: per-load and tiered plans grow with volume.
- Modules: accounting, CRM, EDI and tracking are included on some plans and add-ons on others.
- Integrations: EDI partners, API access and load board or vetting subscriptions.
- Onboarding: setup, data migration and training fees.
- Contract: monthly, annual billing or a multi-year term.
What hidden costs sit outside the sticker price?
| Cost | Published example |
|---|---|
| Setup or implementation | Transport Pro $2,500; Sunnybrook $1,500 to $20,000 (includes migration and training); Aljex one-time fee |
| Data migration | MVMNT $799 per 10,000 records |
| EDI | MVMNT $249 per trading partner a month; ARK $349 per connection a month; Transport Pro $500 setup plus $250 a month per shipper |
| API access | Transport Pro $500 a month; Alvys developer sandbox $100 a month |
| Tracking | ARK $2 per tracking session |
| Extra seats or overage | Transport Pro $100 per user; Tai overage, rate not published |
| Annual billing | MVMNT paid plans are billed annually |
| Load boards and vetting | DAT, Truckstop, Highway, RMIS and MyCarrierPortal bill you directly |
| Extra training | Transport Pro $200 an hour |
Then add the tools a TMS may or may not replace: a separate CRM, document signing, a carrier vetting subscription, a carrier payment service and accounting software. UltraShip includes a free built-in CRM, Gateway carrier vetting and onboarding, freight broker accounting synced to QuickBooks, and UltraPay for paying carriers by ACH, RTP or wire.

What do free TMS tiers include?
Freight broker software free plans are rare: MVMNT's free plan is capped at 15 shipments a month, Diesel TMS has an ad-supported free plan built around trucking as much as brokerage, and AscendTMS now offers a 30-day trial instead. See free TMS software for freight brokers for what free leaves out.
Is a TMS worth the cost?
Run the time math. If a TMS saves each of 10 people 30 minutes a day, that is about 1,260 hours a year. At $30 an hour, that is $37,800 of time, before counting missed invoices and faster carrier pay. Most broker TMS plans above cost less than that for a 10-person team.
Build or buy?
Building your own TMS means paying developers to build, host and keep it current with load boards, vetting tools and accounting. For almost every brokerage, buying a broker TMS is cheaper and faster; build only if your workflow is truly unique and you have an engineering team.

Common questions
How much does a TMS cost for a freight broker?
Published prices for broker TMS software run from free (MVMNT, up to 15 shipments a month) and $100 a month (DAT Broker TMS) to $7,925 a month (Tai Pro), and $5,000 per user a month for an enterprise system such as Turvo. A 10-person brokerage booking 400 loads a month pays about $1,000 to $2,100 a month on most published plans, before load board subscriptions and setup fees.
What is the cheapest freight broker software?
MVMNT's free plan is the cheapest if you book under 15 shipments a month. After that, DAT Broker TMS starts from $100 a month and AscendTMS from $69 per user per month. For a full team, compare the price at your own users and loads, since per-user and per-load plans grow differently.
Is freight broker software priced per user or per load?
Both models exist. AscendTMS, ARK TMS, MVMNT and UltraShip charge per user; Alvys and Sunnybrook charge per load; Quote Factory and BrokerPro use load bands. Per-user pricing is usually better for a growing brokerage, because the bill stays flat as loads go up. Per-load pricing can be cheaper for a small team with few loads, but it rises with every load you book.
Are there setup fees?
Sometimes. Transport Pro charges $2,500 for activation, Sunnybrook $1,500 to $20,000 for implementation and Descartes Aljex a one-time fee it does not publish. AscendTMS, Quote Factory, Alvys and UltraShip publish no setup fee.
Can I pay for a TMS monthly without a contract?
Yes. AscendTMS, Quote Factory, Transport Pro, Alvys and UltraShip publish no long-term contract, and BrokerPro says it has no minimum contract term. MVMNT's paid plans are billed annually.
How much does UltraShip cost?
UltraShip is a paid TMS, and it is very affordable for an all-in-one system. It charges a fixed price per user with unlimited loads: no per-load fees, no load caps, no setup fees and no contracts. The CRM is free inside the TMS, and carrier vetting, carrier payments and the AI tools come on the same bill. The exact price is shared after you book a demo, based on your team size.
Do I still pay for DAT and Truckstop separately?
Yes. A TMS connects to DAT and Truckstop, but those subscriptions are billed by the load boards. The same is true for most carrier vetting services such as Highway, RMIS and MyCarrierPortal, unless the TMS has its own vetting built in, like UltraShip's Gateway.
The cheapest TMS on paper is not always the cheapest one to run. Add up the setup fees, the add-ons and the tools it replaces, then divide by your loads.
